What is being proposed?

Patterned after a San Francisco policy that guarantees workers nine paid sick days per year, Issue 4 in Ohio seeks a change to state law to mandate that employers provide full-time (30 hours) and part-time employees with mandatory paid sick leave.

Issue 4 requires seven paid days per year for all full-time employees (30 hours per week) and pro-rated time for all part-time employees. Any unused sick pay would accumulate and roll over from year to year to year.

This law is so poorly written that it will open the door to endless abuse, rising costs, and put employers at risk of lawsuits for simply trying to run an honest business.
